Getting started

Pick a partner, win your first battle and learn the basics.

Your first minutes

  1. New game. Professor Oak welcomes you and lets you pick a partner: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle or the special pick, Pikachu.
  2. Win it over. Your partner appears as a wild opponent with 10 HP. Tap it to battle — when it falls, it joins you.
  3. Route 1. Tap Route 1 on the map, then GO. You walk there and wild Pokémon start appearing one after another.
  4. Catch. You start with 25 Poké Balls. After a win, a ball is thrown by itself at any Pokémon you don’t have yet.

The First Steps quest line

The tutorial runs as a quest line (QUESTS → STORY). Its steps pay Quest Points (QP):

Saving

The game saves by itself on your account, so you can log in on any device and carry on.

Battles and idle damage Click damage, your team’s attack every second, and type matchups. Catching Catch rates, ball types, auto-catch rules and shinies. Map and routes Walk Kanto, unlock routes with 10 defeats, and later Fly anywhere.
